Portrait Playing Card Designs

These are a series of five playing cards consisting of the Jack, Joker, King, and two Queens. The designs where developed in a three part process. First the photographs where taken then digitally manipulated for high contrast black and white. Second those manipulations where printed, transfered to a woodblock, cut, and printed by hand. Finally the traditional prints where scanned, converged with the original photography, and digitally manipulated once more for the final result.

Regurgitate Digital Painting/Woodcut

This image was a conversion of traditional printmaking, an inked line drawing, and digital painting. The original image was an inked line drawing that was then transfered to a woodblock, cut out, and then printed in a 3-part reduction woodcut. That traditional print was then scanned and set as a background behind the original line work at about a 50% opacity and then digitally painted over.
